Overview
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Shootin' Star ("the app") handles information when you use it on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The short version: we don't collect anything. All data the app generates stays on your device, under your control.
Data We Do Not Collect
Shootin' Star does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:
- Personal information — no name, email, or account is required to use the app.
- Location data — the app never accesses your location.
- Audio recordings — the microphone is used solely to detect dry-fire trigger sounds in real time. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted.
- Analytics or telemetry — the app does not include any analytics SDK or usage tracking.
- Crash reports — no crash data is sent to us or any third party.
- Advertising identifiers — the app contains no advertising and does not use any ad tracking.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following data locally on your device only:
- Session history — your timing results and session records, saved in the app's private local storage.
- Settings — your preferences (sensitivity, delays, auto-repeat, etc.), saved in iOS UserDefaults.
This data never leaves your device and is deleted when you delete the app.
Microphone Permission
Shootin' Star requests access to your device's microphone in order to detect dry-fire trigger sounds and measure reaction time. The microphone is only active during a timing session. No audio is ever saved to disk, sent over the network, or accessible outside the app.
You can revoke microphone permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. The app's timing functionality will not work without microphone access.
Apple Watch
When paired with an Apple Watch, the app communicates timing state and control commands between your iPhone and Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework. This communication occurs only between your two devices over your local Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connection. No data is routed through external servers.
Third-Party Services
Shootin' Star does not integrate with any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs. There are no advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social logins.
Children's Privacy
Shootin' Star does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, the app is consistent with COPPA requirements.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
